It’s finally spring, and with it the dreaded but necessary spring cleaning.
I have three kids and live in a small house, so I know how utterly daunting it feels to try and clean out every nook and cranny of the home.
But don’t panic, here’s the secret: get the whole family involved! Yes, even the toddlers. Why Spring Cleaning Is Important
Face it—cleaning isn’t the most glamorous thing to accomplish.
But something has to get done.
At some point, dust accumulates, clutter piles up, and rooms start feeling small. Spring cleaning is the perfect opportunity to clean out, deep clean, and rejuvenate your house. And let me tell you, there’s nothing better than walking into a freshly cleaned, well-organized room after a chaotic day of pursuing toddlers.
For me, having a small house is always a test. I’m naturally a bit of a slob, so I can certainly use all the help I can get. That’s why I’ve learned to embrace organization and get my kids involved. It’s not just about cleaning; it’s about teaching responsibility and creating a sense of unity.
How to Get the Whole Family Involved
The key to productive spring cleaning is teamwork. Here is how I get my family on board:
- Set a Date: Choose a weekend when everyone is free. Choose a day when the weather is fine so that you can open the windows and let in some fresh air.
- Break It Down: Don’t try to do it all at once. Break jobs into multiple days or even weeks.
- Make It Fun: Turn cleaning into a game. Set a timer, create challenges, or listen to your favorite music to get everyone motivated.
- Give age-appropriate chores: Even little children can help. My 3-year-old loves to wipe baseboards, and my 8-year-old sorts toys.
